Round 1 saw us go to the infamous Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca for the first race of the Skip Barber eRace Series. Out of the hundreds of sim racers around the world that put a lap in for the qualifier, Hunter was lucky enough to see himself qualify in 5th place.
Going into the season, Hunter knew that he would not be able to run the full season due to some military training planned after round #4, so the goal of the races was to claim the hard charger award. With this, Hunter did not qualify and started the race in last position. The race got off to a clean start heading into turn one and Hunter immediately made up a few positions.
Race 2 saw Hunter starting from the 12th position (result from last race). The race got off to another clean start and Hunter again gained a few positions through the first few corners doing some amazing outside passes through turns 1+2 and 5. One the third lap there was some unfortunate contact with another driver in the final corner causing some minor damage to Hunter’s formula 4 car after fighting for 5th place.
In retaliation from the other driver, Hunter was divebombed in turn one and promptly lost around 5 positions. Hunter continued on for a few more laps until the damage from the car caused him to spin in the high speed turn 6. With a possible top 5 finish turned into a 15th place finish.
